Akun Mie Pangsit, Legendary Noodle Stall in Medan
Medan, among a few Asian cities, is crowned as FOOD PARADISE.
And I’m here to help you all Batamliciouz’ readers in understanding more about Medan’s culinary.
As my first writing contribution here, I would like to introduce you guys to one of the legendary noodle stall in town, Mie Pangsit Akun.
No matter you’re craving for steaks or burgers or pastas, this place is sure to satisfy the hungriest of you and I can vouch for what I write here.
They have 2 branches in town and me and the family always likes to hook up with the branch at Jln. Wahidin (I will provide you the google maps later).
Mie Pangsit Akun is all the time crowded especially on weekends. There’s not a single time I can get a table without queuing if I were there in the morning on weekends.
They occupy 2 shop houses, quite spacious but the parking lot is pretty limited. Customers can see through the open kitchen in the front where they prepare the noodles, assemble the bowls, add the meat, eggs, spring onion, fried shallots, etc before sending them out to the tables.
Picture above is the scene you will surely see on every Sunday morning.
What I always eat and never get bored with is the Mie Pangsit with Hot Coffee Milk. It makes perfect match!
In my humble opinion, Mie Pangsit Akun is one of the best Mie Pangsit (wonton noodle) in town. I like the springy texture of the noodle and the way it absorbs the savory flavor from the sauce.
My suggestion is, eat the noodle alone without any soup or if you keen, just pour a spoonful into the bowl and — voila — it’s time to start eating! Make sure you make the slurping sound!
Besides the Mie Keriting, Akun also serves Tiongsim Noodle. It uses smaller straight and long noodles. The noodle texture on this one is awesome. Similar feel when eating mie sua.
Tiongsim has lighter flavoring compared to their Mie Keriting, so it’s just a matter of preference.I personally prefer the Mie Keriting over Mie Tiongsim in Akun.
TIPS
For your information, do remember to ask for the pork lard to add more oomph in your bowl.
