LEGOLAND MALAYSIA, THE LAND OF AWESOME FUN!
One item taken off my childhood bucket list. This is one of those childhood dreams I used to have, playing with tons and tons of Lego bricks. I remember my parents could not afford Lego for me so being just about all the normal parents out there, I want my children to experience fun that I never hard. But back in those days, never in my wild imagination that I thought Lego would come this far. The Lego I saw in Legoland Malaysia was simply beyond awesome.
FAMILY AND KIDS-FRIENDLY RESORT
If you want to get the full-experience of Malaysia’s 1st International Themepark, you have to stay in their hotel. And you definitely have to bring you children. I came here on a 2D1N trip and brought along my precious little troublemakers to cover up the fact that I was too shy to come alone. hahahhaa…. That way people wouldn’t look at me in a weird way when I am playing with Lego!
THE LOBBY IS AWESOME
Just as we entered the hotel’s lobby, they suddenly went berserk. I couldn’t blame them because I almost lost my composure after seeing these.
There are hundreds and thousands and probably millions of lego bricks in the lobby just waiting for your creative minds or cute emotional hands that love to throw things. Either way, the kids were having so much fun while their daddy was dealing with the check-in procedure.
Fortunately, their check-in process was painless and I was helped by the friendly Roziana (the most left with the short hair) . Thanks for being cool! It also helps that the background wall is so eye-pleasing for Lego fanatics because there are 12,528 Lego mini figures on display behind the reception desk.
If you think these Legos are cool, you would be in for a bigger surprise as you read on. Meanwhile, let me remind you the check-in time is at 4 pm. I reached here a couple hours early so I have every right to be a child once more!
Yup, I got myself an Excalibur Lego Sword to kill the green dragon that is disturbing the peace of my Lego Kingdom!
ADVENTURE THEMED ROOM
Legoland Hotel boasts 258 rooms with different themes: Pirate, Adventure, Kingdom, and NinjaGo! All their rooms include 1 bedroom for the grown-ups with king-sized bed and 1 bedroom for the children with bunk ned and a pull-out trundle bed. My family stayed in the Adventure theme.
My children were so excited when they saw this bunk bed. Ashton was like ‘I am going to sleep up here. This is for big kid. Mei mei (younger sister) can sleep down there.” Their happy faces are priceless to me.
All of the floor is carpeted by the way. Being in this room makes me feel just a little younger. hahahhaa
What I love most about their bathroom is the children basin. Even in the bathroom they have Lego figures hanging on the wall.
This is the view from our room and of course, the children were already excited even before we go there. But I told them that we are only going there tomorrow morning. The theme park opens from 10:00 – 18:00 so you really want to maximize your day ticket.
FACILITIES – SWIMMING POOL AND KIDS’ CLUB
So I decided to bring the kids to enjoy the hotel facilities because the next day, we would be out the whole day.
There are two pools here, one for adult, and one for children. The children pool is quite fun because you could build floating Lego!!!
Their kids club is an open play area located between the lobby and restaurant. There are many lego bricks, small or big, lying around just waiting for you. There is a console game available at the other corner.
MEDINI MALL IS JUST MINUTES AWAY
Restaurants are available inside the hotel but I decided to explore Medini Mall, which is just 3-5 mins walk away from the hotel. There isn’t much going on at this mall except there are some fast food chains, restaurants, gift shops, minimart, and others. But that is enough because my children (and also myself included) only need one thing…. and that is…
Yesss… KFC! Who doesn’t love KFC right? And before we went back to the hotel, we stocked up on some waters and snacks from the minimart across.
HUGE BREAKFAST SPREAD AND FUN FOR CHILDREN
The breakfast spread here is awesome. Taste is relative but yeah, lots of selections for the children. Even the entire restaurant is as expected, Lego-themed.
My suggestion, make sure the children eat enough. They need the energy for what comes next. It would be a long long day!
LEGOLAND THEMEPARK WHERE AWESOME AWAITS
TA DA!!! Finally we are at the main attraction, the Themepark!
You can buy your tickets here or online from their website here. Be sure to watch out for any online promotion.
Here are the prices as of the time of this post. Currently there is and ongoing promo Buy 2 Adult get 1 Kid FREE! You can book it here. Booking period is July 5-19 but the ticket is valid until Nov 30, 2018. Toddlers below 3 years old can go in FREE!
I would suggest you to take at least 1-day combo ticket. But the most value for money is the 2-day combo ticket. What I am going to show you here was completed with 1-day combo ticket. Doable but honestly it was quite tiring and we did not get to take all the rides and watch all the shows
The main entrance is here. Everyone has to go through security check. Outside food and drinks are not allowed into the themepark. However, if it’s like baby food or milk, I think it is okay.
I brought my own stroller but I was surprised many people were actually renting these. So here is the pricing on the stroller rentals.
THERE ARE 8 AREAS IN LEGOLAND THEMEPARK
1. The beginning
2. Lego technic
3. Lego kingdoms
4. Lego ninjago world
6. Land of adventure
7. Lego city
Basically you start from NO. 1 The beginning. Then moving to your left and clockwise would be No 2-7 in a circle path until you come back to the beginning. No 8. Miniland is located in the center of the themepark.
1. Play your route. Do you homework before you come. Study the map and plan your route so you know where to go when you are here. You can check out their map here.
2. Most visitors would start clockwise. I did a counter clockwise route to beat the queues. So I started from no 7. Lego City and walked my way to No. 2 Lego technic before coming back to the entrance.
3. There is at least one food option per area. I strongly suggest Lego Fries from Burger Joint (Area No.6) and Fried Chicken from Asian Deli (Area No 2)
4. Watch the shows in Lego City Stage and Lego Studio. Plan your rides around the show times.
5. Again, buy 2 day combo tickets. You would need the whole day if you want to enjoy all the rides in the themepark. The waterpark itself has tons of fun activities available.
Here are some pictures so you can get some rough ideas.
Ashton on his first Lego car ride!
This ride will make you wet!
Unexpectedly delicious and filling. It is cheap too for themepark standard RM 9.
Please plan your rides around these show timings. Children enjoy it.
Children can build their own lego cars and race with other kids. Parents can just chill here too.
The biggest playground in the themepark. It has a mini train ride too.
This ninjago ride is fun!
There are many rides and even a long roller coaster in Lego Kingdoms. Make sure you enjoy them all.
Are you a Star Wars fan? If so, be amazed that all these are made from Lego including all the exhibitions and Star Wars world inside. Simply awesome!
The world’s first Lego VR Coaster. Basically you will be wearing a Virtual Reality goggle while the roller coaster is moving. This is definitely the most thrilling ride in this themepark
I highly recommend this fried chicken set at RM 37. It comes with rice, 3 pcs chickens, fries, and a soda. These fried chickens tasted better than the KFC I had the night before. Their fries are on point too.
LEGOLAND WATERPARK WHERE SPLASHING AWAITS
I am a lazy father so I personally prefer the waterpark because its area is smaller compared to the themepark. Hahhahaa you don’t you have walk too far and my children enjoyed it just as much although we were here for just 2 hours.
Here is the map to get you started. There are so many different sections here suitable for all age groups.
You can rent lockers here: Small for RM 19 and Large for RM 38 all day. You could also rent towels here for RM 30 all day if I am not mistaken
I started off with this Splash Safari pool. This is the most suitable for younger children and toddlers. Also, the closest one from the locker room. I appreciate the distance because with toddlers anything could happen so it is best to have this closest to the locker room.
This playground is definitely one of the main attractions here. Lots of children climbing, running, and sliding here.
As you walked up to explore the waterpark, you will find this wave pool. This is my personal favorite because they create artificial waves so it kinda feels like we are at the beach. And because there are many life guards here, so I could relax a bit. Hahahaa… just kidding! You must watch your own children at all times okay.
This is the most exciting slide here. Located at their highest spot and you have to climb up high just to slide down. Not for lazy old man like me. Hahaha… honestly, I am just scared of height. I have no problem sliding down but I have huge problem climbing up. Anyway, you take a blue pad and slide down like a Superman!
These two are fun. You take the floats, carry them up, then slide down. You could sit together with your family and slide down together!
There are many more slides here obviously. I am unable to show them all simply because I only had two hours here. I would love to spend more time at this waterpark.
1. Bring your own towel
2. Bring your own soaps and shampoos
3. I did not rent a locker because I came from the themepark and still had my stroller. So I put all my things in the stroller. Do it at your own risk okay
4. You could get in and out for 1-day ticket. If you are staying at the hotel, you could go back anytime, get something to eat, rest, and then come back here again. The choice is yours.
I was impressed with how thorough their commitment is to Lego themed. Not only did my children enjoy it, I also appreciate the hardworks they put into this hotel. If your children happiness is a big thing for you (doh!!!), then this hotel is going to make them happy. I would also like to praise their staff for being wonderful and friendly. Great services and big smiles throughout. Special thanks to Chloe for explaining and recommending the attractions and food inside the themepark.
LEGOLAND THEMEPARK AND WATERPARK
Just to recap, I strongly suggest you to get 2-day combo tickets if you want to explore Legoland themepark and waterpark. I did it with 1-day combo ticket and it was too rush for me. Children being children, they were happy with 1-day but the next day, they did ask for more.
Okay, I think that is all from me. I hope my experience could somewhat help you in planning your trip here. If you want to book the hotel or tickets, check out their website for packaged deals. Click here.
Let me end with this picture of mine and the Lego chef! Just a secret for you readers, when I saw the Lego chef came out, deep inside I was yelling “Mommy mommy, I want to take picture with the chef”.
