POP UP MARKET — TANJUNG UMA 2016
I have just reached the Village of Agas in Tanjung Uma. The journey here is not easy. I took a motorcycle “ojek” to get here. It is not recommended to drive a car here because of the crowd and narrow road
The main attraction is definitely the BBQ! Stingray, fish, chicken, satay, meatballs, and stuff. Lots and lots of these being BBQ along this narrow pavement. There are also the usual stuffs like kueh-kueh, mixed rice, juices, and others standard break-fasting food
The main thing for me here is the ambience. This is even more local than any other pop up markets I have posted so far. This is truly and deeply-rooted Indonesian life. If you are an explorer and loved a good adventure, come here. If you prefer the comfort of city area, then this is not for you
I walked till the end of Kampung Agas (Village of Agas). A shout out to the residents here for your friendly smiles. They answered many of my questions. Being here is truly a humbling experience. May you all be blessed abundantly
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
These pop up markets are called “Pasar Kaget”, which literally means “Shocked Market”. They are called so because they only pop up during Ramadhan Fasting Month of every year. They have become the targets of many foodies, especially Muslim friends who are observing the Fasting period.
