Batam Getaway (part 2)
Remember that I told you that I will definitely come back again with my other travelogue stories? So, here I am with the continuation of my previous post. Sit back and relax, hope you enjoy this heavy-photos post. Thanks!
OK, have you seen enough of the fish in my previous post? We were done with the fish, no worries. So, no more fish in this post, but I will show you a lot of seafood dishes for instead. Hehee đ Letâs start!
This open-air restaurantâs name is Sumber Rezeki Restaurant.
As you can see in the pictures above, the sun was giving no mercy that day when we were there, it was like living inside an oven. omg!
Tables and chairs were put at the patio above the seashore. So, thereâs a low bridge to direct the customers from the car park to the seashore. âNO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWEDâ sign welcomed us at the entrance.
This restaurant can cater at least 100 or more people in one sitting. It would have been a lot more fun if the weather wasnât that scorching.
From our tables, we could enjoy the sea view and the world go by. Hahaha.
Small sampans were seen floating on the sea. How can one not love this kind of view?
Enough of the sea view, let me take you guys to another level of happiness. Here come the FOOD photos!
During our days there, we (especially me) took a lot of coke in every meal.
Please imagine how âWOWâ the feeling youâll get when you sip the coke in that SUPER HOT and HUMID weather. Itâs like being teleported to cloud 9 within seconds! I donât know about you, but I did feel that way. LOL.
Before I explore the details of each dish, below is the top shot of the food we had that day.
From the most left, we had fried crab, 2 portions of green chili chicken (it was so so good that we ordered another portion at the end of the meal), stir-fry bean sprouts, steamed prawns with garlic, stir-fry kangkong, battered fried squid and the Batamâs legendary garlic fried chicken (very delicious that we ordered another portion too!)
â Green Chili Chicken, 2 portions on the right bottom â Idr. 50,000 each (we donât have the close-up shot)
PLEASE DONâT question us why we are so much addicted to this. The green chili was really spot-on! The chicken was truly good too! Not only that, to add on the hype, the weather was the ultimate killer. But who cares, we ate and sweated our way through the whole meal, no regret.
â Deep Fried Crab â Idr. 200,000.-
This dish doesnât need further introduction, those crabs were simply battered, fried and sprinkled with salt.
Obviously, this wasnât our favorite, the crab shell was way too hard to crack. We prefer if itâs soft-shell kind of food. If we know earlier, we shouldnât have to order this, those Idr. 200K was maybe better to be spent at maybe another 4 portions of green chili chicken? LOL.
â Garlic Fried Chicken â Idr. 50,000.-
This is a famous recipe in Batam. All restaurants in Batam serve this. We all love this so so much!
Chicken was tender and moist inside a layer of crispy goodness. Not greasy, the garlic was fried together with the chicken in big pieces. Oh, so much love in this dish which is loved by many, adults and kids.
For you readers who are not Batamâs residents, please listen to me, if you travel to Batam, donât ever miss this Garlic Fried Chicken. Hands down!
â Steamed Prawns â Idr. 120,000.-
We could vouch that this was one of our favorite here too.
Prawns were fresh, juicy and huge enough, itâs head was so suckable as all the sweetness was somewhere there. Prawn heads are the best part of a prawn, I think seafood connoiseurs will nod their heads in approval.
I wouldnât say much, the picture speaks better and louder.
â Stir Fry Bean sprouts with salted fish â Idr. 30,000.-
This is such a simple and cheap dish, I wonder why we often pay at minimum Idr. 20K to eat this outside.
Canât deny that this dish is a must-have too when one is having seafood meal.
There are actually 2 more dishes not in the pictures. Stir-fry kangkong at Idr. 30,000 and battered fried squid at Idr. 60,000. Stir-fry kangkong was good and so was the squid.
Over all, it was a good experience having our lunch there. Not much waiting time considering we were the only patrons that day. In a group of 8 persons, we spent Idr. 807,000 for this seafood feast including the rice and beverages. Will we come back? Yes, we will.
Sooooo, if you have come to this line, many thanks to have read this ânot-too-shortâ post to the end. Appreciate it much! Well then, Iâm planning to see you guys all again in 1 week time with the.. part 3?
Excited about that? Stay tuned!
